A bit of Bartok

Due to various hard drive crashes over the years, I’ve lost my favourite version of Bela Bartok’s Rumanian Folk Dances. I can’t now remember who performed this particular version. All I have left of it is a snippet from my Rob’s Radio Hour No.3 show. I’ll leave it to my radio voice to give the intro (and yes, I know I’m a crap DJ)…

Here’s Janine Jansen performing the complete Rumanian Folk Dances at the Prinsengrachtconcert in Amsterdam in 2005. Bartok originally wrote this piece for piano, and it’s tough enough to play on that instrument, let alone on violin…

And here’s Béla Bartók himself, recorded sometime in the 1930s…
