When A Nation Goes Insane

Last month the UK Defense Secretary Gavin Williamson claimed that a Russian attack on the UK’s critical infrastructure could cause “thousands and thousands and thousands of deaths”. This comes on top of Prime Minister Theresa May accusing Moscow of military aggression and Foreign Secretary Boris Johnson saying there was evidence showing Russian meddling in Western elections. Then we have once respected newspapers like the Guardian, which in the aftermath of the Snowden revelations in 2013 has become a CIA tool pumping out childish propaganda. They’re like five-year-olds on LSD, and it’s all part of the wave of Russophobia that’s sweeping the western world, Russophobia that’s starting to make 1950s McCarthyism look like a boy scout’s outing. In a similar vein, this week there’s been yet another demolition job on Jeremy Corbyn, with the likes of the Sun and the Daily Mail accusing him of helping Czechoslovakia to spy on Britain during the Cold War:

These accusations were of course quickly debunked by numerous sources. Comrade Corbyn himself made quite a good job of rebuffing this latest smear campaign:

You have to go to the other side of the Pond to see all this madness in full bloom. There’s a joke doing the rounds at the moment about the Rachel Maddow Show, which goes: if you take a shot of vodka everytime Maddow mentions Russia you’ll be dead in 20 minutes. Then we have Robert Mueller’s investigation into Trump & Co’s supposed collusion with the Russians, the latest of which is so pathetic that I can’t even be bothered going into it here.

I’m trying to make light of this new McCarthyism but of course there’s a very serious and dangerous aspect to it all when a nation – or at least, a section of a nation – goes quite literally insane. As examples of this you could point to the Nazis in Germany, the Cultural Revolution in China or the Khmer Rouge in Cambodia. With regard to this new McCarthyism it’s amazing how intelligent, once rational people get swept-up in it (and I know quite a few in my own little orbit). Even the likes of Bernie Sanders are not immune. The hysteria, the madness is like an infection. The bottom line here is that you don’t know what these lunatics are going to do next. The NATO encroachment on Russia’s borders and the situation in Syria are bad enough, but in my humble opinion it’s China that’s the biggest worry. In a post last November I was banging on about the petro-yuan and the Shanghai International Energy Exchange, in which countries will be able to trade oil in the Chinese yuan currency. At the time it was thought that the Shanghai International Energy Exchange would open for business in December, but instead they carried out another dry run of the system. However, there’s now recently been an official announcement by the Chinese government saying that the petro-yuan will be up and running next month. This will mean the demise of the petro-dollar, and without the petro-dollar the US of A is effectively fucked (all of the world’s oil is currently traded in dollars, which gives the USA tremendous financial clout). Some experts say that it will take a long time for the petro-yuan to overtake the petrodollar. Such opinion might be propaganda. Who knows? It seems certain that the likes of Russia, Iran, and Venezuela – who are some of the world’s biggest oil producers – will switch to the petro-yuan. Also, many are predicting that the schitzo economic system in the West is on the verge of collapsing again. If that happens what effect will it have on whether producers trade oil in dollars or yuan?

The petro-yuan will mean the end of American hegemony and the psychos in Washington, all swept up in the new McCarthyism, will do anything to prevent it, including a full scale war with China. The Lunatic-in-Chief has already threatened to incinerate 26 million North Koreans. These McCarthyite people are all totally mad. The world can only hope that the USA undergoes a Soviet-style collapse and things will settle out relatively peacefully. The signs of such a collapse are already quite stark.

Sleep well tonight.

Thanks, Rob – it’s the insane reaction from the US to the petro-yuan that I fear. In the meantime, here’s an insane song from Ivor Cutler, a Scottish legend!

John, I’m often disparaged from saying things that Ivor Cutler says, because I’ve now completely lost my train of thought.

Rob, you’d probably enjoy tonight’s BBC4 Old Grey Whistle Test’s 30th anniversary of closing down. Whispering Bob hosts. Not sure when you can pick it up. Music not all to my taste but good to see that fresh feeling of music, regardless!.

    Bad Russians!

Even if the geeks that were placing disparaging truths on Social Media about Hilary had nothing to do with the government, surely Putin should make stamping down on that sort of thing as a priority.

I’ve never heard of an unaffiliated American geek doing something like this, sure the pros in Langley and Menwith Hill do this in their (and our) sleep.

That’s when they are not funding, arming and training terrorist groups to destabilise countries. Thanks to the US we have AlQaida whose primary mission was to destabilise Russian interests in Afghanistan. Various groups used to cause trouble for Putin in the Ukraine (home grown and also NATO mercenaries). Several of Putin’s friends in the Middle East got set up by the US with Chemical attacks, billions of dollars used to create 100+ terrorist groups plus the formation of ISIS.

And if the subversion works (Gaddafi voluntarily giving up his active nuclear weapon capability), (Saddan voluntarily giving up his WMD programmes) and (Assad voluntarily giving up his Chemical Weapon Capability) Then there is only one resort ………. Destroy the Country anyway, its the only thing these people understand.

That is how decent, honest democratic people interfere in Sovereign State affairs’ when they need to change.

But Russia’s tactics of ignoring a silly group of Social Media bloggers is just unacceptable and wicked.

    Bad Russians!

Syrian government forces, engaging with “Others” in The Golan.
The “Others” “may” be being sponsered by Israel/U.S.A.

Syrian Army foils al-Nusra attack on military posts in Quneitra

It does seem strange, that there is virtually no mention of the Islamic State enclave in The Golan, adjacent to Israeli held Golan?

  4. Peter Beswick says:

Britain may have to go to war with the USA and it will be Boris Johnson’s fault
He says the UK must bomb those responsible for the any use of chemical weapons in Syria.
Which means the USA; they have form in Syria and elsewhere.
I can imagine it will go nuclear fairly quickly once we start bombing Washington so, if its any help, I suggest we use a First Strike tactic with Nuclear and Bio / Chemical WMD’s.

Kafka must still be alive and kicking.
On Sunday the Turkish government said the UN ceasefire would not affect its operation in the Syrian Kurdish enclave of Afrin, which Ankara claims is aimed at fighting “terrorist organisations that threaten the territorial integrity and political unity of Syria”.
Mr.Macron has threatened to bomb Syria
if he can find out that the government are using chemicals?

Anyone else, noticed, that in Northern Europe, the authorities, are very keen not to surmize that terror causes building to blow up and collapse, particularly in Belgium /Sweden but also in France /U.K.
Building collapses after explosion in Belgium, terrorism ruled out

now one in Leicester, also ruled out

        • freddy says:

Belgium has been on high alert since deadly suicide bombings in 2016 and a wave of Islamist attacks across Europe.

Yet the first response of local government, before they know anything whatsoever, is to say
          terror is ruled out,

how can you claim that, if you know nothing?

No further mention in the press of the January 2018 Paardenmarkt
            explosion can be located?
            However: Paardenmarkt
The Paardenmarkt bank is a sandbank in the North Sea some 300 to 1500 meters from the Belgian coast near Knokke-Heist and close to the port of Zeebrugge.

After the First World War from November 1919 to May 1920 some 35.000 ton ammunition, of which some 10.000 ton were mostly German chemical ammunition (mustard gas), was dumped by the Belgian authorities at the bank. The existence of the dump was forgotten until it was rediscovered in 1971. The dump is currently covered by some two to four meters of sand.[1][2]

In 2013 after searching the government archives scientists disputed the number as an underassessment and claimed that probably all 35.000 ton of dumped muntion is chemical, as after the war conventional munition was usually disposed of by exploding them under controlled circumstances, which at the time was considered to be too risky for chemical weapons. Due to the high financial cost and for safety reasons the Belgian government has decided not to clear the area and practices a “don’t toch” policy. The site is however marked with buoys and is constantly monitored and is a prohibited area for fishery activity and for anchoring.[

Indiscriminate shellfire on civilians by Turkish troops in Syria
You might note that the Americans are really upset with the Turks for buying Russian missiles

Donald Trump’s Syria air blitz cruise missiles were made in Scotland

You really can not understand, why the Coalition of the Willing could not have waited.
The Inspectors were authorised by the U.N. to search for chemical weapons/ingredients in Syria, now all the Jayish-al-Islam terrorists and their families have been dispatched to Turkish held Jarabulus, in Northern Syria, The Eastern Ghouta is quite, people are starting to return to their homes.
    Peace, is happening?
