The Global Times newspaper is a mouthpiece of the Chinese government. It’s just done a quite lengthy report about Kim Jong Un’s visit to China. Here’s some parts of it:
Xi said Kim’s current visit to China, which came at a special time and was of great significance, fully embodied the great importance that Comrade Chairman and the WPK Central Committee have attached to the relations between the two countries and the two parties.
At present, the Korean Peninsula situation is developing rapidly and many important changes have taken place, Kim said, adding that he felt he should come in time to inform Comrade General Secretary Xi Jinping in person the situation out of comradeship and moral responsibility.
The two sides informed each other of their respective domestic situation. Xi said the 19th CPC National Congress had drawn a grand blueprint for building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects — building a moderately prosperous society in all respects by 2020, having basically achieved modernization by 2035 and building a great modern socialist country that is prosperous, strong, democratic, culturally advanced, harmonious, and beautiful by the middle of the century.”
The issue of denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula can be resolved, if south Korea and the United States respond to our efforts with goodwill, create an atmosphere of peace and stability while taking progressive and synchronous measures for the realization of peace,” said Kim.
China has repeatedly stated that if North Korea is attacked it will come to its aid. This of course comes just as a complete lunatic called John Bolton has been appointed as President Trump’s national security advisor, a lunatic who openly calls for the pre-emptive bombing of North Korea. What could possibly go wrong? Actually, I’m still optimistic about things, despite the fact that we’ve been put on a war footing by the psychopaths who rule us. Having said that, though, the psychopaths have all but crushed the anti-war movements. Back in 2003 it was a different matter, when the biggest anti-war demonstration in human history took place in more than 800 cities around the world. There were more than one million protesters on the streets of London; three million on the streets of Rome; etc. The psychopaths still took us to war in Iraq, though. The difference between then and now is that back in 2003 the internet was still a minority sport, whereas in 2018 just about everyone is connected to the free flow of information.
