Fukushima: It’s much worse than you think

Without doubt, Fukushima is the worst nuclear incident in history. God knows how many millions worldwide will die as a result of it. They won’t drop dead now, but in ten, twenty or thirty years time (I know, I’m a cheery soul this evening). I don’t have the energy to scribble about it at the moment, so here’s a video of a book launch by Dr Helen Caldicott, in Montreal, Canada, shortly after the earthquake struck Japan. That was then and this is now: Fukushima has been spewing radiation for three months, into the atmosphere, the earth/water table and into the ocean, and it will be at least a year before the reactors stop boiling (for reasons that are beyond me, they haven’t gone with the Chernobyl solution and entombed the reactors). You have to bear in mind that Caldicott is flogging a book in this video, and could perhaps be overly dramatic. I do agree with just about everything she says, though.
