The Campaign to Abolish the Licence does not advocate breaking the law, however absurd that law is. If you have a televison in your home The Wireless Telegraphy Act, 1949 states that you must buy a licence.

We aim to get this outdated and idiotic law changed by the democratic right of peaceful protest. With your help and support we will deliver to the Government of this country a one million signature protest petition against the licence fee. This will be one of the biggest petitions ever in British history and will send a very strong message to the government, strong enough to get them to take action over the TV Licence.

Opinion poll after opinion poll has shown that the majority of people in this country want the licence fee abolished (you can see a recent Mori Poll on the front page of this site). The politicians do not listen because that majority of people against the licence fee don't have a voice. The One Million Signature Petition will give them that voice, very powerfully. The Campaign to Abolish the Licence is made up of people of all ages, from all walks of life, from all over this great country of ours. If you agree with what we are saying all you have to do is put your signature on the petition and encourage others to do so as well. It's as easy as that.

We believe there are one million people in this country who would sign our petition. Many people are still not aware that the C.A.L exists. Many people do not have access to the Internet.
